Forest Hill House: is re-opening its waiting list and taking applications for one-bedroom subsidized apartments. Forest Hill House offers one-bedroom apartments for eligible elderly applicants (62 years of age or older) and disabled individuals and their families of all ages. All apartments are federally assisted, and families pay thirty percent of adjusted gross income for rent. Applications are available for pick up on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from November 1, 25-
December 1, 25.
Income Qualifications: All applicants will be screened for eligibility. To qualify for these apartments, the following income limits apply:
1 person $28,440
2 person $32,490
How to get an application: Applications will be available beginning November 1, 2025. You may obtain applications during the application period:
• In person at the management office located at: 505 Mount Prospect Avenue, Newark, NJ 07104
Applications are available for pick up on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from November 1, 25 – December 1, 25.
If you or anyone assisting you cannot use these methods to obtain an application, please contact the management office at the number listed above and ask that an application be mailed to you. Your place on the waiting list will be decided by lottery so there is no need to come in person, come early, or wait in a long line.
Returning completed applications and lottery selection: Applications may be returned by mailing or bringing them to the office by December 1, 2025. Applications received between November 1, 2025, and December1, 2025, from program eligible applicants will be placed onto the waitlist by a lottery held on December 8, 2025, at the corporate office, 7 Thomas Drive, Cumberland Foreside, Maine 04110.
Applications received after December 8, 2025, will be numbered, date and time stamped upon receipt, and added to the waitlist chronologically in the order that they are received.
